5 Warning Signs Your Shower Needs Complete Restoration (Before Leaks Start)
Your shower is the most intensely used wet area in your home. Catching early warning signs of degradation can save you thousands of dollars in water damage repairs to walls and subfloors.
1. Missing, Chalky, or Crumbling Grout
If grout lines feel powdery when rubbed or exhibit visible gaps and pits, the cement binder has broken down. Water penetrates behind the tile wall every time the shower is turned on. Our complete shower restoration package strips damaged joints and reinstates waterproof integrity.
2. Black Mould Colonizing Behind Perimeter Silicone
When silicone caulking along the shower tray or screen starts turning black, the seal has separated from the substrate. Moisture trapped behind the bead breeds toxic fungal spores that surface sprays cannot reach. We replace failing silicone with commercial sanitary sealant via our silicone replacement service.
3. Drumminess or Hollow Sounds when Tapping Tiles
Tapping tiles with your knuckles should produce a solid, dull sound. A hollow, echoing tone indicates the tile has lost its adhesive bond to the wall lining due to chronic water penetration.
4. Stubborn Glass Limescale Etching
When calcium and magnesium deposits bond with soap scum over years, the glass screen becomes permanently milky. Our multi-stage mechanical polishing removes micro-etching and restores crystal transparency.
5. Persistent Musty Odors in the Bathroom
A musty smell that lingers even after thorough cleaning is a telltale sign of active fungal growth beneath wet floor tiles or inside soaked wall cavities.
